Kartoffel Projekt
Duo show with Paul Wiersbinki at Galerie Historischer Keller
7 October to 1 December 2024
The potato, a tuberous vegetable of South American origin, was stored in (historic) cellars. It has nourished the population but also triggered famines, and is considered a symbol of plant-based energy. In Germany, it is so historically significant that it has contributed to shaping national identity. Numerous monuments have been dedicated to it.
In the exhibition “The Potato Project,” we aim to use this Solanaceae plant in a site-specific multimedia installation to reflect on models of origin, humanity, myth, machines, and plant life—categories that are themselves in an constant process of growth and transformation
